Roger Ebert is a Moron

Below is a link to Roger Ebert's review of Kick-Ass. He makes himself look like a idiot and he needs to realize that this is a movie based off a comic book. Please read and let me know what you think of it.

Dumb A$$

  1. He did not read the comic book, that's for sure. And still, anyone who doesn't have a serious psychological condition already knows what is real and what is not. THIS IS BASED ON A COMIC BOOK ROGER!
He says that he is worried about what will happen if a 6 year-old sees it. Well no sh**. Me too! It's rated R for a reason and if the parents decide to let their Kindergartner see it, then the parents should be held responsible if the child demolishes the other 6 year-olds for asking for her milk money.
Ebert just seems to have no basis for a logical argument other than that he just didnt like it. Well, everyone has an opinion and I don't have to listen to his. For anyone that hasn't seen it, I suggest you do so. Even though it deviates from the comic (which should have been expected, really it should have) it is still a very entertaining movie.

Too bad they never said 'Tunk'

  2. "Shall I have feelings, or should I pretend to be cool? Will I seem hopelessly square if I find “Kick-Ass” morally reprehensible and will I appear to have missed the point? Let's say you're a big fan of the original comic book, and you think the movie does it justice..."

Idiots. He mentions the comic in the first paragraph.

It doesn't matter if it's based on a comic or not. He's reviewing the movie, not the source material. He has given great reviews for comic movies in the past, so.

  3. I think that his review, while I don't completely agree with it, is fair. I have always thought that Roger Ebert was one of the best movie critics and I still hold that opinion after reading this review. I like him because, whether or not I agree with him, he always explains his like or dislike of a movie, which is all he is doing here. His opening statement alone (that Ben quoted above) is proof. He's not being a "moron". He's just being honest.

I'm going to agree with Ben on his second point. Whether or not he has read the comic is a non-issue. He is a movie critic. Not a comic critic. There should be no expectation of him to have read the original book. Would you expect him to read the bases for every movie that he critiques??

I'm still excited to see the movie and I'm sure I will love it, but Ebert is entitled to his opinion too.
