Mark Millar: Cheap-@ss

Seriously, first he is a sell out and makes copious amounts of money not only on his popular comics, but off of the box office hits based on his comics. Then he can't even help boost the world economy by actually purchasing his own comics, and he is proud of how cheap he is.

Does anyone else feel a little put off about this?

  1. First, I think the term "sell-out" is used far too freely nowadays. Its not his fault that his books are popular. I think he genuinely loves what he does and is extremely enthusiastic about getting to work in a medium he has always loved. Not all authors have to be dark, twisted, reclusive assholes.

Second, celebs receive free things all the time. That's just how it is. Actors probably get free screeners of movies, athletes get free shoes, equipment...etc...It's just a gesture of good faith from the producer/distributor.what-have-you to the person that they represent. This tweet, it seems to me, is Millar just joking around about that.

  2. If you write or draw a comic the company that publishes it sends you a few copies of it free. And if you were writing very popular comics would you take the Mark Millar or Alan Moore route?

  3. I would take the Bones route and delete my Twitter account.
