Some Good and Bad News In Comics

So originally this post was going to be all about the news about the future of Jeff Parker's Atlas series, but then I read some very good news on CBR so I decided to change this post into a bit of bad news and a bit of good news.

First the bad news.

The (once again) newly relaunched Atlas series will be ending at issue 5. This was announced by Jeff Parker during a recent interview, where he stated that he had the option to either tie Atlas into an event to try and boost sales, or just end the series altogether.

This is another failed attempt to successfully make Atlas a big seller and it may be the last. The series just has not caught on with the casual reader. That being said, this book is a great loss as Atlas has been one of the best books to come out during Marvel's new Heroic Age.

Now for the good news.

In my opinion one of the best books coming out right now is American Vampire by Scott Snyder. It has been progressively getting even better with each issue. Reading this series has made me quite the fan of Scott Snyder. He is one of the young new talents in the industry that I hoped would get more mainstream work.

Well that wish came true earlier today when I read that Scott Snyder has signed an exclusive deal with DC. This is great news and DC has continued their recent streak of signing amazing talent.

Now that announcement is enough for a blog post all its own. However DC also announced what Scott Snyder's first DC universe book would be. It was announced that later this year Scott Snyder would be taking over Detective Comics.

Now this is a big first assignment for Snyder, and I am so excited to see his run on the book. I'll definitely be checking that book out when it's released. I wouldn't even mind if Snyder was the writer who brought back Batwoman now that Greg Rucka is no longer involved with that character.

So just a couple of ups and downs within the comics industry.

.......oh....and before I forget. Scarlet was awesome, really really great.
