Sparta USA by David Lapham

If you read 'Stray Bullets' don't miss David Lapham's newest mini series 'Sparta USA'.
Issue #1 is out, #2 coming soon.
It has all the Lapham themes: dysfunctional families, Americana, sex , violence...and football?

Who is Salt?

Angelina Jolie is nothing if not a versatile actress and soon she will be stepping into the shoes of none other than...Tom Cruise??

Okay, I'll bite, the Cruise statement is really only a half truth. Tom Cruise originally was meant to play the title role in Columbia Pictures' upcoming action thriller Salt, but when he was forced to drop out the role was retooled as a female. In stepped Angelina Jolie.

Over her long and diverse career, Jolie has proven that she can both win Oscars (best supporting actress for Girl, Interrupted) and kick ass with the best of them...

[REC] 2 might get a theatrical run in the U.S.!!!

Beware the Rise of the Fenix

Howdy everyone. That being said, I will never ever said howdy again. Except for that time.

Anyways, Jared and Cornbread also asked me to start writing for the blog and since I am new to this. I will not try to screw up the blog by using words too big or too small but I am usually an opposite to most of Cornbread's 'logical' arguments so at the very least, there could be a good discussion going on between the two of us.

I don't have any fancy banners (sorry Passenger 47) but I read, play games, and watch tv and movies whenever I'm not doing research or sleeping. Or eating. Or being thrown like a ragdoll by Cornbread across the apartment.

Look forward to a post coming up soon!

A Quick Introduction

Hey all, just figured I'd throw a post up to introduce myself. At Jared's and Cornbread's request I have joined the blog and will be linking most posts from my own blog here. If you want to check out the kinds of things I tend to write about (movies, TV, books, music, comics...etc...), click here.

Until Next Time,

Cornbread's Favorite and Least Favorite Comics of the Week - 3/31

Favorite Comic: Aladdin Legacy of the Lost #2
*Warning Spoiler Alert*

First off, for the price this book is great. 4.99 for 64 pages with no ads? You cant beat that. Now onto the review, When I first started doing these comic reviews every week Aladdin LotL #1 was rated my least favorite comic of the week. But if you look back and/or remember what I said at the end of the review is that the second book was bound to be better, and it was. This issue really develops the story that I was dying for in the last issue, as well as introduces a couple of really cool characters. The art of Sejic is awesome and really brings the book alive, although sometimes it is a little hard to follow because of the way some of the pages are set up.

The story picks up by introducing the King and his daughter the Princess. Aladdin has become a prince because of his discovery of the magic lamp, and is giving money to the poor. The King double crosses him and turns him over to his nemesis Quassi and there is a fight between the two of them. Aladdin ends up cutting off his hand and acquiring a magic ring that he has, unbeknown to what it can do. Aladdin seeks aid from Captain Sinbad and he brings Aladdin to the Mantis queen for help. By the end of the book Aladdin is able to access the power of the ring he found and the story ends with a great set up for the last installment of this mini series.

Many other events take place during this comic, but I dont want to ruin them for anyone who wishes to read it. But regardless, if you are not reading this check it out. It is a great value for the price and since you would be able to read both issues one and two at the same time it would make issue one better because the reader will get the instant gratification of issue two. Regardless, this is a great read and I cant wait for the last issue.

Who Wouldn't Hit That

1. She's hot
2. She cooks
3. She's Italian
4. She's well endowed in all the right areas

What is not to like? Giada De Laurentiis is famous for her food network television show Giada at Home. You get to watch this hot women cook dinner and desert, whats not to like? Seriously, her husband is the luckiest guy in the world. First she would cook him dinner, then he would get laid for desert, and then afterwards she would serve him some kinda desert as well! What a perfect situation.

I do believe I would hit that.

I Believe in Magic: Paul Blart Mall Cop Movie Review

Most people take a glance at this movie and say hmm, this does not look good, or they see the preview
and see that it is rated PG and think that it couldn’t possibly be funny. I’m not going to lie, I thought the same thing, but after hearing that the previews did not show any of the truly funny parts and that it pushes the limits of a PG movie I was intrigued. I was told about some of the funnier parts of the movie and I felt like it was my destiny to see this film. So I went onto Amazon.com and I bought it for the everyday low price of $7 and finally this past weekend I got the movie in the mail and watched this amazing film.

Shameless Self-Promotion.

Lately on this blog I have been defending the choice of Chris Evans as Captain America by, among other things, pointing out that the film is already doomed due to the silly choice of Joe Johnston to direct, citing his recent films as evidence of his lack of credibility.

And as some of you may know, my brother and I are seeing every film that comes out this year (within a hundred mile radius or so), and we are blogging about it at www.denzelwa.com, and I just wrote a review for Johnston's The Wolfman, which is located here.

And be sure to check the homepage to see the beautiful logo that Ben just finished.

Easter with the Hardy Boys

This isn't that funny, but I guess I'll make a joke out of it anyway....

DES MOINES, Iowa (April 3)
- Police say two teenagers who wandered away from their younger siblings at an Easter egg hunt have found a body at a Des Moines park.

Police Sgt. Chris Scott says the teens came across the man's body in a wooded area at Beaverdale Park on Saturday morning.

He says the teens had accompanied their siblings to the park's egg hunt but wandered away. The body was found at least 300 yards from where the egg hunt took place. He didn't know how old the teens were.
About 100 children participated in the annual event.
Police say they don't suspect any foul play, and an autopsy is planned.

The man's name hasn't been released pending notification of his family.

Blackest Night #8

The end is here....and so is a new beginning as Blackest Night comes to a close, ushering in the Brightest Day. Like any great saga there are closures in this final issue but not without creating some new dynamics that will change the DCU going forward. That's the nature of episodic fiction, creating tendrils that connect one story to the next.

We start this issue where we left of the last one, with White Lantern Sinestro about to confront Nekron. Geoff Johns clearly understands Hal Jordan, his strengths, his weaknesses, and what drives him. Having lost his father and seeing how his father's occupation affected the rest of his family it's no wonder why Hal appears shallow at times and a man-whore at others. It's his coping mechanism for wanting to keep everyone at an arm's length so that he doesn't have to deal with the pain when they die. It's been there all along, but now it's in black and white for anyone who didn't figure it out before.
