Dead Rising 2: Case Zero Review

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero is a strange beast. This Xbox 360 prelude, to the upcoming game Dead Rising 2, introduces you to extreme sport athlete Chuck Green and his daughter Katey. They end stranded in a little town of Still Creek as there is a massive zombie out break.  Added to Chuck's frustration is that Katey is infected and needs medication (Zombrex) to keep her from joining the undead.

Zombrex doesn't cure zombification just postpones it with each treatment.  Chuck learns that military is taking no chances to quell the outbreak. So you have twelve game hours to hunt down some Zombrex and some form of escape before the military comes gun blazing.

Now know this sound like serious horror game, but this game has a wicked sense of humor. First of all almost anything you can be use as a weapon. Baseball bats, sledge hammers, broadswords, moose heads, brooms, rakes, shotguns, fry pans, chainsaws, saw blades, and even poker chips. Also the games encourages you combine item to make new weapons, such as a electrify rake or the pitchfork shotgun. Although some of the combination weapon are practical or super useful they are quite entertaining to use.

The game shows off some of the changes made over the first game. Such as that survivor A.I. has been greatly improved, but occasionally get in the way or do something dumb. The camera mechanic from the first game has been removed in order to make room form the combination weapons. Also the Save system has been changed by giving you three slots instead of just one. Plus you can level Chuck up to level 5 and can bring that over to Dead Rising 2.

There are some faults with this game. Some The strict will seem daunting at first and may take a couple of tries before you can get the best ending. Also the loading screens are quite noticeable and frequent. Also this may just be me but I miss Frank West. I mean Chuck seems more like a well rounded character but he hasn't cover wars.

Overall this is a nice little package for five dollars.
